Noun, Noun Phrase or Noun Clause as the object of a Transitive verb

B.  Noun, Noun Phrase or Noun Clause as the object of
      a Transitive verb-
When a word, a group of words (phrase), or a clause is used in a sentence as the object of a Transitive verb is called noun, noun phrase, or noun clause respectively.

Examples:
1. Ram drives a ‘car’.
    In the above sentence, ‘car’ tells us the name of a vehicle
    And it is used as the object of Transitive verb ‘drives’.
     So, it is a noun.

2. He reads a ‘newspaper’ everyday. 
    In the above sentence, ‘newspaper’ tells us the name of
    a thing and it is used as the object of transitive verb ‘read’.  
    So, it’s a noun.

3. We enjoy ‘playing cricket’.
     In the above sentence, ‘playing cricket’, the group of words  
     or phrase tells us the name of an action and it is used as the
     object of the transitive verb ‘enjoy’.
     So it is a noun phrase.
4. He doesn’t know how to swim.  
    In the above sentence, ‘how to swim’, the group of words or
    phrase tells us the name of an action and it is used as the
    object of the transitive verb ‘know’.
    So it is a noun phrase.

5. He knows how to play cricket.
    In the above sentence, ‘how to play cricket’, the group of
    words or phrase tells us the name of an action and is used
    as the object of transitive verb ‘know’.
    So it is a noun phrase.


6. Everyone knows that the earth moves round the sun.
    In the above sentence, ‘that the earth moves round the sun’,
    the group of words including a finite verb or clause tells us
    the name of an action and it is used as the object of 
    transitive verb ‘know’.    So it is a noun clause.

 7. He didn’t know how he would help you.
     In the above sentence, ‘how he would help you’, the group
     of words including a finite verb or clause tells us the name
     of an action and it is used as the object of transitive verb
    ‘know’.  So it is a noun clause.

8. He learns speaking English.
    In the above sentence, the phrase ‘speaking English’
    expresses the name of an action and it is used as the object
   of transitive verb ‘learns’.   So it is a noun phrase.

9.Alen likes to ride a bike.
     In the above sentence, the phrase ‘to ride a bike’ expresses
     the name of an action and is used as the object of transitive
     verb ‘likes’.     So it is a noun phrase.

10. A cat is springing to jump over the wall.
      In the above sentence, the phrase ‘to jump over the wall’
      expresses the name of an action  and is used as the object of
      transitive verb ‘is spriging’.    So it is a noun phrase.
