Adverb Clause of Manner
1. Adverb Clause of Manner
This type of subordinate
clause tells us how the action occurs/happens in the main clause and generally
starts with as, as if, how, however, like etc.
এ ধরনের subordinate clause,
main clause এর ক্রিয়া সংঘটিত হওয়ার ধরন সম্পর্কে বলে। সাধারণত as, as if, how, however, like ইত্যাদি দিয়ে বাক্য শুরু হয়। যেমন―
1. He tried to do it as I was doing.
আমি যেভাবে করতেছিলাম সে এটা
এভাবে করার চেষ্টা করেছিল।
In this sentence subordinate clause ‘as I was doing’ tells us
‘how did he try to do it?’ in
the main clause.
So ‘as I was doing’ is Adverb clause of manner.
অর্থাৎ এ বাক্যে subordinate
clause ‘as I was doing’ Principal/Main Clause এর ক্রিয়ার ধরন সম্পর্কে বলে দেয়। তাই ‘as I was doing’ কে Adverb
Clause of Manner বলে।
You can start this sentence with
subordinate clause
As I was doing it, he tried to do.
In this case you’ve to push a
comma at the end of the subordinate clause.
আবার উক্ত বাক্যটি subordinate clause ‘as I was doing’ দিয়ে শুরু করা
যেতে পারে সেক্ষেত্রে subordinate
clause শেষে একটি কমা বসবে।
2. It has happened as I
expected.
Or, As I expected, it has
happened.
আমি যেভাবে প্রত্যাশা
করেছিলাম ইহা সে রকম ঘটেছিল।
এখানে ‘As
I expected’ Adverb
Clause of manner, Main Clause এর ক্রিয়া সংঘটিত হওয়ার ধরন সম্পর্কে ধারনা দেয়।
অর্থাৎ Main Clause এর ক্রিয়ার ধরন কে How দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে আমরা Adverb Clause of manner পাবো।
Question: How has it happened?
Answer: As I expected.
3. She cooks as her mother
does.
তার মা যেমন ভাবে রান্না করে
সে তেমন ভাবেই করে।
এখানে ‘As her mother
does’ means ‘As her mother cooks’ Subordinate Clause টি Main Clause এর ক্রিয়ার ধরন বুঝায়। তাই
এটিকে Adverb
Clause of Manner বলা হয়।
অর্থাৎ Main Clause
এর ক্রিয়ার ধরন কে How দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে আমরা Adverb Clause of manner পাবো।
Question: How does she
cook?
Answer: As her mother
cooks.

a mad.
সে এমন ভাবে কথা বলছিল যেন সে
পাগল হয়ে গিয়েছিল।
Question: How did he talk?
Ans. ‘as if he were a mad’
So, ‘as if he were a mad’ is Adverb
Clause of Manner.
