Few verbs are always followed by Gerunds not infinitives

** After the following transitive verbs we have to use gerunds not infinitives:
avoid,  stop,  give up,  consider,  finish,  mind,  keep,  enjoy, suggest,  think, deny,  understand,  defer,  dislike,  excuse, forgive,  pardon,  postpone,  prevent,  prohibit,  recollect, think, start, stop, etc. Examples:

1. We should avoid wasting our time. (not to waste)
2. The teacher told us to stop making a noise. (not to make)
3. He is given up smoking. (not to do)
4. He tried to avoid answering my question (not to answer)
5. Could you please stop making so many noise? (not to make)
6. I enjoy listening to music. (not to listen)
7. I considered applying for the job but in the end
    I decided against it.
8. Have you not finished washing your hair yet? (not to wash)
9. Would you mind closing the door. (not to close)
10. I don’t mind your using the telephone. (not to your use)
11. Sorry to keep you waiting so long.
12. You can’t stop me doing what I want. 13. Salam gave up trying to find a job in this country
      and decided to go abroad.
14. When I am tired, I enjoy watching T. V.
15. I am not in hurry, I don’t mind waiting.
16. We were hungry, so I suggested having dinner early.
17. Are you thinking of buying a car?
18. I don’t enjoy driving very much.
19. They denied stealing the money.
20. Why do you keep asking me questions?
21. Please stop asking me so many question.
22. If you want to learn English, you have to understand
      forming sentences.
23. It started raining.
24. Do you dislike listening music?
25. They postponed arranging the party.
