Few verbs are always followed by Gerunds not infinitives
**
After the following transitive verbs we have to use gerunds not infinitives:
avoid, stop,
give up, consider, finish,
mind, keep, enjoy, suggest, think, deny,
understand, defer, dislike,
excuse, forgive, pardon, postpone,
prevent, prohibit, recollect, think, start, stop, etc. Examples:

We should avoid wasting our time. (not to waste)
2. The teacher told us to stop making a noise. (not to make)
3. He is given up smoking. (not to do)
4. He tried to avoid answering my question (not to answer)
5. Could you please stop making so many noise? (not to make)
6. I enjoy listening to music. (not to listen)
7. I considered applying for the job but in the end
